Whether or not you have a telescope, you should consider getting a pair of binoculars. They’re great for a quick glance into the night sky when time is short, and they’re easy to use and understand. Plus binoculars give you a much wider field of view of the night sky than any telescope. And you can get a decent pair for just $100-$200, far less than a telescope.
