Video of Solar Eclipse – November 13, 2012

A lucky few observed a total solar eclipse on November 13-14.  The event was visible across northern Australia and through the eastern South Pacific, just across the international date line. For those of us who missed it, here’s a wonderful video showing the onset of totality.

You can never tire of seeing such such an event. Even now, with all our knowledge and understanding of the mechanics of the heavens, a total eclipse is a wonderful and appalling sight. How terrifying these events must have seemed when, during less enlightened times, they appeared suddenly and without explanation.

The next solar eclipse occurs on March 20, 2015.  It will be visible across the North Atlantic Ocean and the Norwegian Sea between Iceland and Norway.  Here is the map showing the location…
